Promote a BLNPA Event
PROMOTER INFORMATION
PROMOTER'S CHECKLIST
Select date (check with BLNPA)
Choose appropriate location:
- Minimum seating capacity: 500
- Front lobby must be large enough for vendor booths
- Check sound and lighting conditions
- Must have adequate space for pump-up area
- 2 long tables and 9 chairs must be placed in front of stage for judges
- 2 microphones are needed
- Obtain any necessary insurance, licenses, and policy coverage
- Depending on overall attendance, facility may require police and fire personnel on site
Select name of contest
- Obtain name, date and location approval from Kevin Topka, chairman, BLNPA
- Obtain contract and promoters package.

Package will contain: contract, member mailing list, and gym mailing list,
BLNPA
- Logos, judge’s form, tally sheets, invitation forms, and poster samples
- Sanction fee:
* $300 per show, due “30 days before show” (covers insurance). All shows must have insurance
* Must submit proposal 1 year in advance
- 2 nights hotel and car for chairman, if traveling to show by plane or make
arrangements to and from airport and show. If judges, tabulators are traveling
a long distance, promoter must provide hotel accommodations and lunch on
the day of the show.
- Ticket price pre-judging: $10-$15, Evening show: $30-$35
- This is a drug-tested contest and urinalysis is the testing method.
Pro- Open Division awards:
Top 5 Trophies, 1st: $500; 2nd: $300; 3rd: $200; 4th: $150; 5th: $100
Locate sponsors to help cover expenses. This must be done before posters go to press.
- Set rates for poster ads, rates for vendors selling products at location, etc.
- All shows will allow BLNPA clothing, accessories, etc.
- All posters must have BLNPA. Logo.
- Print and mail posters and invitations at least 15-20 weeks prior to contest.
- Order banner with name of contest.
- Order Trophies. All contests may contain the following divisions and classes:

The promoter has the right to adjust the weight classes to make the best competition possible. In most cases the classes will be as follows:
Men’s Teens 19 yrs. & under
Men’s Junior 23 yrs. & under
Women’s Novice (one class)
Men’s Novice Lightweight 175 lbs. & under
Men’s Novice Heavyweight 175 ¼ lbs. & over
Women’s Grandmaster 50 yrs. & over
Men’s Grandmaster 50 yrs. & over
Women’s Master 40 yrs. & over
Men’s Master 40 yrs. & over
Women’s Open Lightweight 118 lbs. & under
Women’s Open Heavyweight 118 ¼ lbs. & over
Men’s Open Bantamweight 140 lbs. & under
Men’s Open Lightweight 140 ¼ - 155 lbs
Men’s Open Middleweight 155 ¼ - 175 lbs
Men’s Open Light-heavyweight 175 ¼ - 190 lbs

Awards:
- Top 5 in each class
- Best poser Award
- All class winners must receive Overall trophy (1st place in Teens, juniors, masters, and Grandmasters is the Overall class winner, unless there are 2 or more divisions in a Class.

Staff:
- 5-7 BLNPA approved Bodybuilding Judges, 2 Tabulators, Head Judge, M.C. (BLNPA will provide help if needed)
- 5 BLNPA approved Fitness and Figure Judges, 2 Tabulators, Fitness and Figure Head Judge
- Additional Staff: 1 person to operate sound system and lights, 2-3 people for pump-up Room, 1-2 people to sell tickets and work the door.
- All judges are given VIP MEMBERSHIP CARDS. The card entitles them to attend any BLNPA show free of charge.
- Prepare number tags for show. 2 tags (same number) per Bodybuilder. 1 tag per Fitness & Figure contestant. Depend how big the show is, 1-15 is Fitness, 16-50 Figure, and 51-120 is Bodybuilders. Tags may be purchased at staples, or other office supply stores.
- All entries must have a current membership in the BLNPA at a fee of $35.00 per year.
- Entry fee for all BLNPA shows: $45.00 due 2 weeks before contest. Late entries & walk-ins are subject to a $35.00 late fee. Crossover: $25.00.
Promoters must provide equipment for pump-up area:
- Minimum of 2-3 flat benches, 6-10 sets dumbbells, 5-6 fixed barbells, mirrors and scale.
- Judges tables must have cool water, diet drinks, diet bars & fruits.
- Tickets should be printed & available for sale at least 1 month prior to contest.
Times:

- Stage, Banners, Pump-up area, Trophies set up
- Pre-judging to begin
- Fitness & Figure Check-In
- Evening show to start
- Event director responsible for bringing judges & tabulators packets and urine sample bottles on the day of the show.
- Plants and flowers are always nice to have on stage for the evening show, however, not mandatory.
- Girls or guys are needed to pass out trophies.
- Contact all local gyms to help support your contest. The more local competitors, the bigger the house you will have.
All overall winners must be drug tested. Place 2nd when applicable must be drug tested (urine test) immediately following the awards ceremony. Male & female staff person will be needed. Be sure to clearly state drug-testing policy and fees on contestant application.
The fact that a substance is sold over-the-counter does not automatically make it acceptable for drug-tested competition. As a competitor that chooses to compete in drug-tested competition, you are responsible for being knowledgeable about the supplements that you consume.
When taking the drug test, you must leave clothes and bags outside of stall, wearing only posing suit. When Urine sample is completed, seal, initial bottle, and return to tester. Anyone found using a controlled bodybuilding drug i.e., Anabolic Steroid Banned Substance or any bodybuilder forgetting to leave urine sample will lose title and WILL BE BANNED FROM THE B.L.N.P.A. FOR LIFE. THERE IS NO RETEST.

Guest Posers must be BLNPA Pros ONLY. Guest speakers must be drug free and approved by Kevin Topka, 30 days prior to contest.
Promoters who are approved to head judge or promoters using local head judge approved by Kevin Topka will have a lower sanction fee $300.00 and promoter responsibility to take care of head judge expenses, that fee will cover insurance for contest to be paid 30 days before the contest.
